Al Dente:

     Authentic Italian Cuisine

Tucked away on salem street in the heart of the North End.
Al Dente is the kink of cozy, traditional restaurant you'd expect
to discover in this historic neighborhood.  With soft lighting,
prints of the Amalfi Coast, white linen tablecloths and bottles
of red and white wine, Al Dente has the feel of a European
restaurant.  A wide range of traditional Northern and Southern
Italian specialties served in hearty portions in a friendly
atmosphere is their hallmark.

Al Dente specializes in chicken and veal dishes.  Besides
the traditional marsala, cacciatore and parmigiana, they also
feature the owner's personal favorite - Chicken Buona Bocca -
three medallions of chicken sauteed, layered with prosciutto
and fresh mozzarella then baked in the oven and finished
with mushrooms, sage and a white wine sauce.  There are a
number of spectacular house specialties.  One popular one
is Gnocchi Al Dente, fresh potato gnocchi served in a plum
tomato sauce with sundried tomatoes, capers, basil, romano
and parmesan cheeses with choice of veal or shrimp.  A
special veal scallopini is layered with eggplant, prosciutto
and fresh mozzarella served with a dry vermouth sauce.

Al Dente has a large selection of pastas cooked to order
and a choice of a dozen intriguing sauces, from primavera
and pesto to bolognese or a vodka marinara.  With any
pasta and sauce, you can add chicken, veal or shrimp.

For appetizers, you can choose from a lobster-filled
ravioli served with shrimp in a light marinara sauce or a
tri-color tortellini wit pancetta, among others.  There are
a number of tasty vegetarian appetizers, too, including
eggplant rollatini and a vegetable medley sauteed in garlic
olive oil.

Al Dente has a full range of wines by the glass and
bottle.  Take out, private parties and catering services
are all available.
